Great interview. I was especially interested in Kaliebe's comment that most therapists do NOT subscribe to the affirmation-only model; that it is usually the families and/or clinic administrators pushing the affirmation approach on them. This mirrors what I know about teachers and professors being pressured by admins and parents to coddle young people in all situations. It's the coddling-only approach ;) and it's all about greed and fear (money and lawsuits).

Now I need to go back and listen again! I took him to mean the MD psychs aren’t persuaded, which is good news, but I’m not sure he was extending that credit to the broader ‘therapism’ community. In my experience, the vast majority take Big Brother (in a wig) as their lord and savior. Btw, I just sent you a message about doing a pod 😊

Ps, yes, 100% about the coddling.

This is an excellent interview! Thank you so much Jenny for bringing Kris Kaliebe to your audience. It was my first exposure to him and I deeply appreciated his evidence-based and down to earth approach to the topic. Excited to take a look at the toolkit even though there is zero chance of my daughter’s high school reviewing their approach to sex and gender any time soon.
