Thanks very much for another interesting episode. I really like the song at the end but it's strange that I can't identify it. My phone has a feature that automatically recognises songs that it hears and it is reliable and accurate in identifying all sorts of songs in English and Spanish. Yet it draws a blank at the featured song. Could it be the lyrics getting it blacklisted or is that paranoia? Also if I put some of the lyrics into Google there's no match.
I love the song too, and I think the composer, William A Ferguson, will love this comment! I’ll make sure he sees it so he can respond, but I did put a link to his Sub in my show notes so you can find his other work in the meantime.
Oh that's embarrassing! And a good lesson for me in jumping to conclusions. Here's the sequence: I loved the song and looked in the show notes for the name. There was a line that referred to original music - which I read but ignored because it was obviously not original music since I had heard it before. I don't listen to much music so if I've heard something it's probably widespread and well known to everyone else. I tried the song recognition thing and it didn't find the song. I jumped to the conclusion that the song was being suppressed because of it's lyrics, which was reinforced by not finding it immediately on a Google search for a few lines of text.
In hindsight I suppose I'd heard it on previous editions of the podcast. It's a great song and the singer should be a star.
You shouldn't be embarrassed. I used the song, which is called 'Chaos is Guaranteed,' at the end of episode 29 with Hippiesq. William can correct me but I think it was only weeks old at the time. I did email him and suggest he check out the comments here, but it's Friday night and you know how it is with recording artists.... :)
Thank you so much for featuring both Kenney and Berns. If a transcript of this episode could be made available, that would be terrific. Berns has great tips about how to organize locally. Elizabeth Kenney’s recounting of what happened in the Berkeley YMCA and all else she describes should be compulsory listening for every Democratic elected official and candidate for office, followed by a round table discussion, moderated by you (because you are so, so good at this), with members of Women Are Real in attendance to field questions. I have restacked.
Thank you so much, Susan. I think you can link to the transcript from your desktop; it just isn’t offered on the app. I was delighted by Jane’s creative tactics — sending thank you notes and See’s candy to the police? Only a real woman would think to do this!
This was great listening, as usual.
I love the idea of having the two complimentary guests back to back.
All those tips on organizing are very useful - and I was thrilled to hear the ROAR shout-out from Jane Berns.
What a gutsy lady Elizabeth is!
Lastly, I am so happy William Ferguson is writing songs about this issue. We need that.
Yes to all that, and thanks for the kind words!

What is the song and where can I get it?

Thank you for the tech tip:) And 100% on the See's candy and thank you notes. Loved it.
