Having lived through the Trans moral panic now in both Canada and the US, I can say definitively that universal government-controlled healthcare does NOT help fight transgenderism.

Canada is in much worse shape with the transgenderist lobby than the US is. It's actually illegal in Canada now to tell minors that they are not the opposite sex. You can be arrested, tried, and convicted of it. Absolutely Orwellian.

Freedom of speech is fundamental to women's rights. And we have much stronger guaranteed freedom of speech in America than any other English-speaking nation I know of.

Sorry, what do you mean by 'the trans moral panic'? Do you think we're exaggerating the problem? I don't live in either country, but know Canada has it extra bad, yes. NZ, where I live, is comparable. But if Jennifer Bilek and many others is right, the recent rise in trans-extremism and the pushing of child transition and men in women's sports, prisons, etc. is a US-led movement that has done untold damage to feminists' and parents' right to free speech everywhere. If I'm not mistaken, one US state has recently passed a law to criminalise parents who 'misgender' or 'deadname' their children.

You’re right: it’s Colorado.

Also, it's a male-led movement. At least some of the money is coming from Canada.

No argument there on the men behind this. But Bilek names (and shames) about a dozen gay and straight (white) male billionaires in the States who she says have done more to push this agenda than anyone else. I trust her research.

She also names Robert Quartermain.

Correct. This was not an insignificant donation. I agree - there is nothing naive about destroying women’s rights nor should gay men be given the pass for not knowing better.

I have been SO demoralized by the revelation of rampant misogyny among gay men.

I mean, I knew about it. I knew it existed. But I've always had gay men friends. Then the only two friends I've lost to this insanity were two completely different gay men, both of whom I'd been close to for many years.

It was a terrible, horrible shock to learn that, although I have always fought for their gay rights, they are actively against my women's rights.

After all, what if a gay man wants to be a "woman"? Those two gay men made it crystal-clear that they know perfectly well which one of us in that scenario is a man and which is a woman: because their loyalty would be to the man.

I had to look him up; I'd missed JB's reference to him. Eva Kurilova writes a balanced article on his $$ contributions to the trans movement, concluding that his support as a gay man who spent most of his life in the closet is more naïve than nefarious. https://www.genderdissent.com/post/shafted-the-gender-goldmine Still, he should know better and probably does. A lot of gay men are on the wrong side of this crap.

No, I don't think we're exaggerating AT ALL. I call it the Trans panic because I lived through the Satanic panic, and the transgenderist lobby is the exact same thing (only this time highly financed): insane anti-science claims of some mythical "oppressed" group that is above all question, even though nothing they say makes sense, and they do real permanent damage to families, jobs, and lives. I have written about my experiences for PITT: https://www.pittparents.com/p/moral-panics-of-our-time-the-satanic

I agree that gov’t paid healthcare doesn’t help fight transgenderism, but in fairness, that’s not its job. I’d like to live in whatever system covers medically necessary care so families don’t go bankrupt following a cancer diagnosis —without including cosmetic procedures and child sterilization in the bargain.
