Thanks to you both for this frank conversation, and for the work that you're doing. Jenny I really understand your need to do what you must do to feel sane in the midst of this insanity we are living through. What better guest to have on than Wesley, who has taken note of all this madness since the beginning and hasn't stopped railing against it ever since. I am so grateful to both of you for your courageous voices.
I love this so much. Yang says it like it is - saying the most obvious things in a way that makes the truth undeniable and points to the absurdity of the current societal stance. This was very cathartic.
I do want to comment on your point (Jenny) about the emotional weight of the testimony of parents of transitioned kids who allegedly were “dying” before they were “saved” by transition. I agree that this is a problem - although it should not be because the weight of a detransioner’s testimony about waking up to realize the harm he or she has suffered is huge and should dwarf the alleged magical quality of these extreme social and medical interventions.
Somehow, the message that a child who is struggling to accept their sex or their sex characteristics needs to suffer medical harm and live a lie to achieve happiness has become the accepted truth. In fact, while it is possible to thrive despite these interventions, the interventions make it much more difficult to thrive - and there are infinitely better ways to help these young people - methods that are unlikely to do any harm and likely to help these young people thrive. I know I’m preaching to the choir, but I think we can’t say these things enough!
I agree, of course, and I'm not letting Moulton or any other Dem off the hook. I just think the party overlords who got them elected and can get them primaried have also put them in a very difficult bind vis a vis constituents who've been sold a bill of goods by other bad actors. None of which gets better for elected Dems until the legacy media get their heads out of their asses.
Yes. You said it a long time ago. The media is a large part of the problem, and the politicians are in a difficult bind - which doesn't get them off the hook, but does explain why they are failing so badly on this issue.
In this Transmuted podcast, among many things I appreciated was the discussion of “preference falsification” and “preference cascade.” These are very important concepts for us all to know and understand.
I thought Jenny’s observations about politicians were excellent—and sensitive to the job politicians have: “All politicians, especially when it comes to social issues, they do not lead. They follow. And I'm not sure that's even inappropriate. I don't think that's an indictment. I think it makes sense for a congressman to, you know, try to understand what the feelings and values of his constituents are on a social issue.”
The discussion that followed with regard to HR 28 (the House version of the sports bill) and Jenny’s question “But my question for you is what happened? Who got to Seth Moulton . . .” indicated a number of factors that came into play. I want to add another: I strongly suspect the House Democratic Caucus was whipped to follow the party line.
For those not familiar with the whip’s role, here’s a description provided by the House: “The Democratic Whip assists the Democratic leadership in managing the party's legislative program on the House Floor. The Whip provides a communications network for the Democratic Members and mobilizes them for important party measures coming up for a vote. The title comes from Great Britain where the House of Commons has had party ‘whips’ since the late 18th century. The British Parliament borrowed the term from foxhunting where the ‘whipper in’ was the person in charge of keeping the pack of foxhounds together.”
Katherine Clark is the Democrat’s House Whip, which is also the second most senior position in the House Democratic Caucus. Clark, as I’m sure listeners here know, is the mother of a trans-identified child, and Clark fully supports her child in that identity.
So, among the things that need to occur to get the Democratic Party back on track are (1) the House Democratic Caucus has to stop whipping on these issues and allow each House member to vote in accordance with his/her constituents’ wishes; and (2) Clark needs to be removed as the whip (though who should replace her is certainly an open question, given the overall public stances of House members).
Thanks for a fascinating conversation. Lots to think about here, as always.
The problem with the Illinois law is that they're NOT refusing permission to people who are not Democrats but want to falsely call their organization Democrat.
They're refusing permission to people who ARE Democrats--who, in fact, truthfully represent the majority of Democrats.
The point of the law was to prevent political false advertising. It is now being used to gatekeep true advertising.
One of our lawyers appeared on Informed Dissent the other day and got the same question from Cori. He pointed out that there are perfectly good laws in place to handle fraud already.
This guy is brilliant! Such a great interview. Why haven’t I heard of him before?! Oh right, massive censorship and cancel culture.

Thank you for the kind words, Victoria.
Such an informative episode. I love Wesley’s storytelling approach to this topic!

Thanks for the lesson on the “whip.” I really didn’t understand the term.
"Only people who have transed a kid get to say anything about whether it's a good idea to trans a kid."
😬
Only people who have hooked their kids on heroin get to say anything about whether it's a good idea to hook your kids on heroin.
The transgenderism lobby has created something very simple and straightforward:
All you have to do is say, "I get special rights," and you get them. No questions asked.
Self-ID really is that easy.

So much for being against gatekeeping.

Interesting.
Thanks, Jenny and Wesley.
Have restacked the hell out of this.
But it's still all so demoralizing. The MAGA party is hell bent on destroying the country, and the Transqueer Party is hell bent on denying reality.
That’s a great way to sum it up.
It really is an era in Hell.
I can't believe our own Party, which we helped build ourselves, is putting us through this.
I haven’t listened to it yet (obviously), but I love it already! Big fan of Wesley Yang!
Well I have, and I can tell you you won’t be disappointed 😊
Really looking forward to it! 🤩
